There is really no wrong way to making a charcuterie board. Just gather the ingredients everyone likes making sure to pair them nicely and arrange the spread on a board. It’s that simple.

Bacon, salami, and pepperoni are the big names behind the term “charcuterie,” but sweets also play a starring role in the Valentine’s Day version of the smorgasbord. Take a cue from this spread created to complement each other and share with that special someone.

What Does Charcuterie Mean?

Charcuterie means “cooked/cured meat” or “snack bar”, and is an amazing way to display a variety of meats, cheeses and other snacks.

A charcuterie board becomes the centerpiece of your party, or a delicious meal to share with family and friends. You can use a cutting board, wooden tray, serving platter, marble slab or other flat surface; then layer it with cured meat, cheese, olives, nuts and more.

What to Put On a Valentine’s Day Charcuterie Board

  • Meats: Salami, Soppressata
  • Cheeses: Colby, Pepper Jack, Cheddar
  • Nuts: Almonds, Cashews
  • Bread/Crackers: Toasted, Sesame Breadsticks
  • Snacks/Sweets: Chocolate Hearts, Strawberry Pocky, White Chocolate Covered Pretzels
  • Dips/Spreads: Melted Chocolate, Herb Cheddar Spread
  • Fruits: Strawberries, Grapes, Dried Fruits

How to Make a Valentine’s Day Charcuterie Board

Wash all fruits and pat dry.

Using food safe gloves, start by making the meat roses first and place where you want it on the board. You can make as many and whatever size you want. (size depends on what type of glass you use)

Place a small serving bowl on the board (leave empty for now). Arrange strawberries around the bowl.

Arrange a variety of meats, cheeses, crackers, nuts, spreads and fruits on the board to your liking.

Using a heart shape cookie cutter, cut out shapes in the cheese and place on the board.

Add chocolate to a microwave safe bowl and melt in microwave in 30 second increments stirring in between until creamy and smooth.

Place melted chocolate in the empty serving bowl on the board.

Add serving utensils to board such as knives and forks. Pair charcuterie board with your favorite wine for a date night in.
