💭 Tips & Notes

  • Alligators should be cooked to a minimum internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  • To store: Place your alligator bites into an airtight container and place them in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • To reheat: Bake in a 350°F (177°C) oven until heated through.

❓ What Does Alligator Meat Taste Like?

Alligator sirloin is considered tail meat, which is a very tender part of the animal. It has a similar flavor to mild chicken, but combined with the texture and consistency of a juicy pork chop!

❓ How Do You Know When Alligator Is Done Cooking On The Grill?

A meat thermometer is always the best way to know when any meat is done cooking. More specifically, alligators should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C). Additionally, it should have a beautiful golden-brown color!

❓ Is Alligator Considered Fish Or Meat?

This question seems to be commonly up for debate and the answer really depends on who you ask! Without a doubt, the flavor is more closely aligned with a slightly-fishy chicken or white meat.

However, it technically falls under the classification of seafood, although it doesn't really fit in with fish either. It is more of its own, unique game meat.
